Requirements

Not every product can receive the SOFTWARE MADE IN GERMANY quality seal. There are several requirements that must be met if you want to label a product with the German provenance. Specifically, these include the following criteria:

  • The manufacturer of the software is a company based in Germany.
  • The essential production steps of the software are performed in Germany.
  • The Software quality assurance takes place in Germany.
  • The user interface, the help system, documentation and service and support are either multilingual or in German for the end user.
  • The future security of the software is contractually guaranteed for its intended use.
  • Five verifiable references are named for the software.

Compliance with these requirements is reviewed by the Bundesverband IT-Mittelstand („Federal Association of IT-SMEs“) and the expert advisory board of SOFTWARE MADE IN GERMANY. The Bundesverband IT-Mittelstand is the largest national representative body that exclusively champions the interests of the IT-Mittelstand that is IT SMEs in Germany. The expert advisory board consists of the seven high-profile experts Prof. Michael Bartsch, Prof. Irene Bertschek, Prof. Bernd Hindel, Prof. Matthias Jarke, Prof. Peter Liggesmeyer, Prof. Alexander Mädche and apl. Prof. Anette Weisbecker.
